Flight School Marketing System

Flight School Reputation Management

Reviews decide who is in the map pack and who gets the call. This service asks for them after every milestone, answers every one inside a week, and watches every platform where your school is rated.

The problem: 14 reviews, the newest from 2023, and one of them is a one-star

A prospect comparing two schools at the same airport reads the reviews before anything else. The school with 60 recent reviews and a reply under each one looks run. The school with 14, the newest two years old, and a one-star nobody answered looks abandoned. That holds even if its instruction is better. Google reads it the same way and ranks accordingly.

Most schools know this and still do not ask. Asking is awkward, and nobody owns it. The fix is to make the ask automatic, tie it to moments when a student is proud, and give one person the job of replying.

Right Rudder Marketing is a flight school marketing agency. Reputation management is one piece of the marketing system. It sits alongside the Google Business Profile the reviews live on.

What we run for your school

The ask, after every milestone

Discovery flight, first solo, checkride pass. Each one triggers a text and an email with a direct link to your Google review form. The CRM sends it within a day, while the student is still telling people about it. Instructors get a card to hand over on the ramp for the students who prefer to be asked in person.

Milestone asks produce more reviews than a blanket request. The reviews they produce say what a prospect wants to hear: what it felt like to fly here.

A reply to every review inside a week

Five-star reviews get a reply that names the instructor and the milestone. That reply is copy for the next prospect. One-star reviews get a reply within 48 hours that is calm, specific, and takes the conversation offline. You approve the negative replies before they post. The positive ones run on a template you set once.

Google treats a profile that answers its reviews as an active business. Prospects treat it as a school that will answer them, too.

Monitoring across every platform that rates you

Google, Yelp, Facebook, the AOPA directory, and the aviation forums where a school gets discussed. A new review on any of them reaches you the same day. A review that breaks a platform policy gets flagged for removal with the evidence attached. Google removes those more often than owners expect when the request is specific.

Reviews on your site, and in your report

The best reviews go on your program pages next to the price, where a prospect is deciding. The monthly report shows review count, average rating, reply rate, and where each new review came from, next to leads and enrollments, so you can see the rating move the phone.

What the numbers look like on the same system. Sun City Aviation Academy in Miami started with a Google Maps listing buried at position 18. It tripled monthly leads over two years, most of it from owning the map pack for its airport. Reviews are one of the three things Google weighs for that map pack. Blue Skies Above in Lanett, Alabama doubled in size in a year and built a waitlist of more than ten students. Hawkins Flight Academy went from zero trackable leads to 348 in six months at $47.90 per lead with fees included. Twenty-three approved directory listings were part of the trust work.

The honest limit: reputation management cannot make a school with a scheduling problem or a maintenance problem look well run for long. Reviews report the experience. They do not create it. If the one-star reviews are about cancelled lessons, fix the fleet first. We will say so on the call.

Questions owners ask about reviews

How many Google reviews does a flight school need?

More than the school across the field, and more recent. There is no magic count. A school with 40 reviews and three from the last month outranks one with 80 and none since last year. The milestone ask keeps the recent count moving.

Is it allowed to ask students for reviews?

Yes. Asking is allowed on every platform. Paying, discounting, or gating reviews so only happy students get the link is not, and Google removes reviews it catches that way. We ask everyone who hits a milestone and let the reviews fall where they fall.

What do you do about a one-star review?

Reply within 48 hours, in a tone you approve, with the specifics and an offer to talk offline. If the review breaks a platform policy, we file the removal request with the evidence. If it is a real complaint about a real problem, we tell you, because the fix is at the school, not in the reply.

Can you get bad reviews removed?

Sometimes. Google removes reviews that violate its policies (fake, off-topic, conflict of interest, or from someone who was never a customer) when the request is specific. It does not remove honest negative reviews, and neither should you want it to; a profile with only five-star reviews reads as filtered.

Which platforms do you monitor?

Google first, because it decides the map pack. Then Yelp, Facebook, the AOPA flight school directory, and the aviation forums where schools get discussed. A new review anywhere reaches you the same day.
